Power Flush
RB Plumbing & Gas Services Central Heating Power Flushing
RB Plumbing & Gas Services offer Power Flushing as a separate service.
Over a period of time, oxidation within central heating systems will result in the build up of black oxidative (i.e sludge) and other deposits. The accumulation of these unwanted deposits can have many detrimental effects on a heating system. The 'sludge' can keep accumulating until it starts to restricts pipes and radiators from distributing heat effectively around a home and resulting in higher fuel bills or even worse causing boiler / central heating parts to fail.
If you are having any of the following symptoms your system is showing signs that it may require a power flush (system flush:
Water within central heating system is black, brown, dirty or like sludge.
Pumps or boiler parts regularly failing.
Boiler or pump noisy.
Radiators dont get very warm, have cold areas, slow to get warm, or constantly in need of bleeding.
Intermittent hot water (usually combi boiler)
Boiler overheating.
Thermostatic Radiator Valves sticking or stiff to adjust.
A power flush machine cycles water at a flow rate of approximately 100 ltrs/min (depends on machine) around your system. Whereas your normal system pump might produce 15 ltrs/min. When power flushing, the full flow rate of the machine is focused on individual radiators at a time, while your normal pump runs with all the radiators open at once. In addition to this the machine we use utilises 2 x 12,000 Gauss magnets (central heating magnetic filters vary in size but are approximately 1x 9,000 Gauss). Therefore as power flushing is focused on individual radiators at a time, has up to 10 times the flow rate of a normal system pump, has potentially 2.5 times the magnetic strength of any regular filter and with the use of correct chemicals more sludge will be dislodged and removed.
A professional power flush (system flush) is the most efficient and economical process available to bring your heating system back to working at optimum efficiency, and protect it from future problems that can be very expensive to put right.
RB Plumbing & Services complete Power Flushing from as little as £285 which includes the cost of cleaning chemicals and inhibitor.

In addition to a power flush we can also install a magnetic filter onto your central heating system which is designed to:
Collect the suspended black iron oxide.
Reduce the risk of the the iron oxide circulating in the boiler and causing damage to integral parts.
Provide immediate results & ongoing system protection.
Have no ongoing running costs.
Provide energy savings of upto 6%
RB Plumbing & Gas Services can install a system filter from £145.

Please Note: The success of a power flush will depend on the layout of the system installation and level of central heating system corrosion which has occurred beforehand. In majority of the cases the process will cure most circulation problems, but unfortunately will not always undo the corrosion and gradual decay caused that has led to the need to power flush the system. On very rare occasions it has been known that radiators have been too badly corroded internally, even after thorough flushing and water running clear throughout the system. On microbore systems the flow from the power flush machine is reduced dramatically which means you may not achieve the result you could on other systems.
